Pildoo Sung

A quantitative sociologist, I study the interplay between social relationships and health. 

My research navigates three main themes:

(1) Complexity and dynamics of social relationships in later life
(2) Stress, coping, and mental well-being among family caregivers
(3) Social capital in a comparative perspective

I teach Health and Social behavior (SOC4046), Social Networks and Social Capital (SOC9115) at Hanyang University (2025 Spring). 

Previously, I was an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Hong Kong Baptist University (2023 - 2024) and a Research Fellow at Centre for Ageing Research and Education, Duke-NUS Medical School (2020 - 2023). I received a Ph.D in Sociology from National University of Singapore (2020).
